“And when did we see You hungry and feed You, thirsty and give You drink? And when did we see You a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe You? And when did we see You sick or in prison and visit You? “ And the King will answer, “When you did it to the least of these you did it to Me.”

Since its inception, the local Philoptochos Chapter “Soteria” of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Dayton has responded to the call of Christ in ministering to those impoverished materially, emotionally and spiritually. They diligently and without fail offer a special philanthropic ministry based upon the love of Christ that impacts all peoples throughout the world.
The Philoptochos has put in place an innovative and successful program entitled, “Community Care Ministry”. This program has brought the love of Christ to countless persons at the local, national and international level. Through this program, over 40 charities have received funds from the outpouring of generosity from the Philoptochos and our community.
The progress and success of the Community Care Ministry continues to be the numerous dedicated chairpersons and volunteers who give of themselves for this benevolent work. Theirs is a labor of love that reaches across geographic boundaries and even physical ones, into the hearts and souls of those in need. How much more could be done with the talent and gifts that the women of our community possess? With your help and God’s grace, the possibilities are infinite!
